Game developer Electronic Arts has announced a “Need For Speed” reboot.
Below is EA’s official statement found on the upcoming game’s official website.
“With over 20 years of history in its rear view mirror, ‘Need for Speed’ returns with a reboot that delivers on what Need for Speed stands for – rich customization, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that drives your NFS game.”
Motoring weblog Speedhunters is apparently working with the video game publisher on the upcoming reboot.
“An international collective of photographers, writers & drivers with a shared passion for digging up the most exciting stories surrounding Car Culture happening anywhere in the world,” PC Gamer reports.
According to developer Ghost Games (via Metro UK ) the reboot will feature “deep customisation, authentic urban culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that pulls you through the game.” Watch the game’s first teaser: Metro UK claims that audiences can view the full trailer on Jun.

“To build that specific game, we needed time and needed to understand from fans: what is the type of game you want us to build?” executive producer Marcus Nillson told GameSpot.
“So what we’ve been doing in this year off is we’ve been trying to understand what people think ‘Need for Speed’ should be standing for.” “Need for Speed’, ten years ago, sold a lot more copies than it sells now,” he revealed.
“Which means we have a lot of room to move up.
We have a global, known brand; it’s strong.” “Need for Speed’ is one of the most iconic names in gaming, and we’re returning it to greatness in this reboot,” Nilsson said in separate statement .
The highly-anticipated reboot will release on Sony’s Playstation 4, Microsoft’s Xbox One, and PC this fall.
