Dreamworks Animation has revealed story details for “Kung Fu Panda 3.

” The movie’s summary appears below via Screen Rant :

“In 2016, one of the most successful animated franchises in the world returns with its biggest comedy adventure yet, KUNG FU PANDA 3.

When Po’s long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters.

But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible-learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas!” Series newcomers Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Total Recall) and Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect, Bridesmaids) are joining returning cast members Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Lucy Liu, Jacky Chan, Seth Rogen, James Hong, Randall Duk Kim, and Angelina Jolie.

Rotoscopers reports that Mads Mikkelsen, who was originally set to play the villain in the film, has departed from the project.

They speculate that J.K.

Simmons, who was previously announced joining the cast in an unconfirmed role, will be taking over the Mikkelsen’s part.

Alessandro and Jennifer Yuh Nelson are directing the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter , the film’s release has been pushed back from Dec.

23 to Mar.

18, avoiding a box office confrontation with J.J.

Abrams’ “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” when it releases on Dec.

“This is part of our constantly reevaluating the competitive landscape, as we do with all of our films,” explained Fox domestic distribution chief Chris Aronson.
