Drake has officially announced the release date for his much-awaited new album, “Views From The 6,” and it will be on April 29!
As reported by Billboard , Drake made the exciting announcement during his Beats 1 show at the OVO Sound Radio last April 9. The rapper has already dropped two new tracks from “Views From The 6,” one that featured Kanye West, Jay Z and The Throne entitled “Pop Style” and the other one featuring Wizkid and Kyla entitled “One Dance.”
In its report, Billboard said that “Views From The 6” will be exclusive to Apple Music or iTunes on the date of its release. Its exclusivity will run for one week. After that, the album will be then available to any stream and download service, starting May 6. According to FYI Music News , this proves to be a “smarter strategy” than what Kanye West did, where the latter windowed his album, “The Life of Pablo,” exclusively on Tidal almost two months after it was released.
Meanwhile, Nathan S. of DJBooth.net predicts that “Views From The 6” will peak Drake’s career but also predicts that the rapper “will fall” after it. According to the commentary, Drake is “a revolutionary trendsetter and a borrowers of cultures, a ghostwriter-employer and an emerging business giant, narcissistic and rap’s most relatable figure.”
One thing, however, that Drake cannot be is “a fad, a trend.”
The report also noted that Drake, over the past six years, has already produced six albums which have gone platinum, mostly multi-platinum. “Drake on the kind of unstoppable roll right now that even avalanches are jealous of,” the report said.
“But his current hot streak will come to an end, the peak will be summit-ed and then descended,” the report noted.
It said that although Drake has become the most popular rapper, he has “absolutely no consensus classic album.” Hence the report predicted that while “Views From The 6” will be a monster, next year, the rapper will be on the slow decline, especially that his first fans are also aging over the years.
“It’s inevitable, it’s written in the stars… the descent comes for everyone, even Drake.”
