Just a few months ago, it was revealed that the new “Spider-Man” movie will now be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Stan Lee sat down with Comicbook.com to discuss the future of “Spider-Man” and other upcoming MCU films.
Also, The Wrap revealed the five actors who could play Spider-Man.
First, he shared his humble beginnings, where no one was even paying much attention to comics and how times have changed.
“You know, years ago when I was doing these comics we’d give the comic books away free to people.
The printer would send us a lot of comics- more than we needed.
A guy would come up with the sandwiches from the drug store and we’d say ‘on your way out, ‘do you wanna take these books when you go?’ That was original art work.
We never thought it would be worth anything.
I’m going back to the early days, you know? It’s changed,” Lee said.
Then, he was asked about the new “Spider-Man” film and what he thinks of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s version of Spider-Man.
He said of Garfield, “I don’t know if I’m easy to please, but I thought Garfield did a great job.” On the other hand, when Maguire was brought to the conversation, he said, “He’s a friend of mine.
He was wonderful! Maybe it’s an easy role to play.
I don’t know.
Maybe I might try out for it.
Maybe I could be Uncle Ben.” Meanwhile, The Wrap reported that Sony Pictures has come down to five actors and they are the following: “Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars/Paper Towns), Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game/Hugo), Tom Holland (The Impossible), Timothee Chalamet (Homeland) and Liam James (The Way, Way Back) are the five actors reported to be ‘strong contenders’ for test offers.” Will one of the actors mentioned above be the new Spider-Man or will Sony Pictures still consider Tobey Maguire? Stay tuned.
