Although the premiere date of “Doctor Who” season 9 has not been set, spoilers have surfaced regarding the return of several familiar faces.
On Friday, the official “Doctor Who” YouTube channel uploaded a video interview with actress Jemma Redgrave, known for portraying Kate Stewart.
Here, Redgrave revealed that she would appear in more than one episode of season 9.
“I’m here for the read-through of episode 7 and 8,” said Redgrave in the interview.
“And I’m really, really happy and thrilled because Kate Stewart is back.” As previously reported, Kate Stewart will also appear in the “Doctor Who” season 9 two-parter premiere, “The Magician’s Apprentice/The Witch’s Familiar.” Given the way filming and casting has been divided, it is expected that episode 7 and 8 will also be a two-parter.
“This series seems very unique,” wrote Doctor Who TV reader SpontaneousFork.
“From what I can tell it’s almost entirely serialized.” But she will not be the only returning “Doctor Who” alum in season 9.
As previously reported, actress Michelle Gomez will reprise her role as Missy after wreaking havoc during the “Doctor Who” season 8 finale.
“Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I’m delighted to be putting my lippie back on,” said Gomez.
“I’m positively dying to see The Doctor again!” But according to spoilers from “Doctor Who” season 9 producer Brian Minchin, Missy will not return in a way that everyone expects.
“Steven had the perfect story,” said Minchin in SFX #261 .
“It’s not going to be Missy as you expect her to be.
Steven likes to surprise everyone and he’s going to do that with this opening.
Missy has an awful lot of sides to her and we’re going to see some new ones in this series.
We also learn a bit more about her relationship with the Doctor…”
