It seems Steven Moffat has taken to spoilers now that “Doctor Who” season 9 is on its way, but what does Osgood’s return portend and how does she come back? Recently, it was confirmed that Osgood would be coming back to “Doctor Who” for season 9.
As shown in recent set photos taken in Cardiff, actress Ingrid Oliver was seen filming alongside Peter Capaldi with her trademark glasses.
“Osgood is back, fresh from her recent murder at the end of last series,” said Moffat according to Express.
“We recently confirmed that Osgood was definitely dead and not returning—but in a show about time travel, anything can happen.
The brilliant Ingrid Oliver is back in action.
This time though, can the Doctor trust his number one fan?” Since the announcement, rumors on how Osgood returns to “Doctor Who” season 9 has been running rampant.
In particular, Doctor Who TV’s guest contributor Taryn Davis shared some very plausible theories.
“Well, if the Doctor and Clara travelled back in time before ‘The Day of the Doctor’s’ events took place, they would meet a younger Kate Stewart and a living Osgood,” wrote Davis.
“This unfortunately means that Missy may still have killed Osgood (tear, tear), and we’re just seeing Osgood for one last adventure.” Another popular theory is that the episode Osgood returns in will feature the Zygons, so perhaps it was a Zygon that was killed by Missy in “Death in Heaven.” “As every actor who’s worked on ‘Doctor Who’ will tell you, there’s always the secret hope you’ll get the call asking you to come back,” said Oliver on returning.
“To actually receive that call is both unexpected and brilliant.
The word ‘honor’ gets bandied about a lot, but it really is, it’s an honor.
Especially because I was so sure Osgood was a goner after the last series.”
