Disaster movie “Pandora” dominates the weekend box office

“Pandora” is the new disaster movie from the same company that produces “Train to Busan” Next Entertainment World. It took control the weekend box office in Korea with 1.1 million admissions in its premiere. The movie was dominating the ticket sales according to the real-time data from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) as quoted by  Yonhap News Agency  with 1.1 million people watched the movie in its first week. The movie was inspired by the Fukushima nuclear disaster and tells the story of people who fight for their love and their loved ones in the event of a disaster.
Written by Park Jung-Woo who also directed the movie, it portrays the negligence and incompetence of politicians to deal with the catastrophic event which was depicted as a nuclear disaster. With highly acclaimed actors and actress were cast in the movie, the movie is guaranteed to give satisfaction for viewers who expects full suspense of the nuclear disaster. Kim Nam-Gil is cast as mechanic Kang Jae-Hyuk whose father and brother died in the power plant explosion. His mother (Kim Young-Ae) and his sister-in-law (Moon Jeong-Hee) are still alive.
