Demi Lovato clarified that Wilmer Valderrama never took the credit for changing her.

According to a report from Entertainment Tonight , his humility has made the “Skyscraper” singer even more proud of her relationship with the “That 70s Show” star.

“He never takes credit for my sobriety, but I guarantee I wouldn’t be alive without him today,” Demi Lovato said about Wilmer Valderrama, who stayed with the former Disney star throughout her struggles with substance abuse and eating disorders.

The 22-year-old recording artist behind hits like “Skyscraper” and “Warrior” also admitted that she loves to flaunt her relationship with the 35-year-old actor.

“We’re in control of what we’re able to post online, and we’re very open about our relationship,” Demi Lovato said about her relationship with Wilmer Valderrama.

“As I get more serious in my life, I’m more proud.

I also wanted to give him a lot of credit that he never takes.” Even with the openness of Demi Lovato about her relationship with Wilmer Valderrama, Fashion and Style  reported that some still get surprise upon finding out that the two are a serious couple.

“A lot of people don’t (know that we are dating),” Demi Lovato shared when she visited Australia’s “Kyle and Jackie O Show.” “Like, I’ll post a picture on Instagram and all the comments are like, ‘They’re dating?!'” “Yeah! It’s been years!” the “Skyscraper” singer laughed.

The pop star explained how dating someone mature played a big part in helping her recover from alcohol and drug abuse, as well as her bipolar tendencies and eating disorders.

“There were some moments, like off and on, when I was struggling with my issues and things like that.

(Those were the) worst times,” Demi Lovato narrated.

“What he would do is he wouldn’t enable me.

So he’d say, ‘I can’t be around if you’re not going to get yourself together.'” “It made me fight for it.

Luckily, it was enough for me to keep holding on to,” she said.
