Jerry Cantrell, vocalist and guitarist of rock band Alice in Chains, has been announced to be guesting on the much-anticipated Deftones new album this 2015.
During an interview with local radio station 92.3 KOMP-FM, Deftones frontman Chino Moreno has confirmed the news.
As reported by Loudwire , Cantrell has even tipped the radio show hosts off before Moreno confirmed it.
Chino spoke about how they got Cantrell to guest for the new album set to be released soon.
“He came in and there’s this one track and in the demo stages, I was like there’s this hole in there,” said the Deftones frontman.
“And in Deftones songs there’s not really any guitar solos per se, but there is a section in there that is not typically a solo, but it had an area where it could use something like he does, especially his style and just the way he plays guitar.” “I sent him the track and he sent it back like two days later,” he added.
“So when we recorded the song, he came in and laid it down.” Feeling positive about the news, Moreno expressed how he thinks this move will be a good one for the band.
“It’s just awesome,” he said.
“You’re hearing a Deftones song, but then a little bit of Alice in Chains and it’s kind of neat.
Me, as a fan, I was just kicked back with a little tear coming out of my eye.” To add to the news, Moreno also updated the listeners and the public about the stages in the prodcution of the Deftones new album 2015.
He said that they are currently in the final stages and is set to be finished in time for fall.
“The challenge of going into the unknown is I think what makes it fun for us to still make records,” he said, pertaining to how it felt making a new album with the band.
