After being known to be so quiet and shy despite being bullied, would Dayanara “Daya” Diaz finally be rebellious and learn to fight back in “Orange Is The New Black” season 4?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly , Dascha Polanco, the actress who has been portraying the role of Daya, shared that she wants her character in the Netflix drama series to develop a much stronger personality.
“I want to see her break out of her shell,” the actress stated. “She needs to react more to situations.”
Polanco revealed that if she would be in the place of Daya and “If the things that happen to her happened to me, I would be extremely upset, I’d be rebellious,” something that she would like to see her character in season 4 of “Orange Is The New Black.”
“So I’d like to see another side of her,” she added. “I want to see her take the bull by the horns, grow up and stop worrying about her mother so much.”
When it comes to Daya’s relationship with John Bennett (Matt McGorry), Polanco noted that she would like to see them back together again in “Orange Is The Black” season 4.
“I would love to see that, but you have to be realistic,” she dished. “He walked out of her life and her main priority right now is figuring out how she can take care of her child.
She also stated that the show’s followers will already be seeing her personal drawings in the new season.
“They still do the drawings for me on the show, but I do draw,” she said. “Maybe you’ll see some of my drawings next season.”
In the meantime, Ecumenical News reported that “Orange Is The New Black” season 4 is going to premiere anytime next year, no exact date yet, with Britney Spears appearing in a cameo role.
