Before heading on the road with a scheduled massive summer tour, Dave Matthews Band revealed the progress of their new album after Dave Matthews confirmed that they are working on it.
In a report by Relix , the vocalist revealed in a Rolling Stone interview that he has been working with new songs while preparing for their road shows.
“I have been filling endless pages with scribble and occasionally coming up with one or two things that I don’t find enormously embarrassing and then I stick those to the wall,” he said.
“We will probably try a few new tunes over the summer and if they go well, then maybe we will try a few more and we’ll discover things playing them live that we should have done on the recordings and maybe go back to the drawing board.” In the same report, the 48-year-old singer revealed how the band managed to take a look back at their 20+ years as a band as they prepare for their summer tour.
“I think we are unique and a pretty badass band – maybe a little creakier than we once were,” Matthews explained.
“We are cursed and blessed with the fact that if you want to see what the band is like and get to know us, then you have to see us live or at least listen.” Going back to their new album, Dave Matthews revealed in a Rolling Stone interview that fans should expect something different from the band in their upcoming release.
“I’ve been in the studio trying to get a couple of things ready for the band to go back in, having fun,” Matthews said.
“I’m just trying to come up with something that doesn’t sound like the past.” “There are some songs the band has been playing for a long time,” he hinted.
“And then whenever I start messing around in the studio, I start writing, so hopefully we can come up with something worth listening to.”
