Andrew Marlowe also has no answers on whether there will be a “Castle” renewal for season 8 or not.
However, he promised fans a gratifying conclusion for the final episode of this season.
The creator of the show talked to TVLine where he dished on the fate of the characters on the show.
He said , “It was a bit of a challenge to craft a [finale] when there was so much uncertainty about the show’s future, with our [actors] in negotiations, not knowing if we’re coming back and all that sort of stuff.” “We were trying to craft a show that had a satisfying conclusion if it is indeed the conclusion, but also some really great, interesting, compelling springboards into next season’s storytelling – if the gods shine upon us and we’re allowed to continue.” There are a lot of changes in the show which cast doubts on the minds of fans about the “Castle” renewal for season 8.
The one thing that hangs in the air is the contract extension of Stana Katic, even as Nathan Fillion already agreed to sign a deal for the renewal if “Castle” gets picked up for season 8.
Stana Katic did say in a previous interview that she thinks it’s important that the show leave while on top.
“Well, I think it really depends on….
I don’t think that a show should overstay its welcome,” she said.
“If the character is complete, if there is nowhere else to go creatively, then I think it’s better to stop when you’re on top.” Entertainment Weekly also noted a change in leadership in “Castle” season 8 should it be up for renewal as David Amman is stepping down as showrunner of the hit series.
“This is the second Castle showrunner shakeup within the past year,” it said.
“Last June, Amann replaced series creator Andrew Marlowe as showrunner.
There’s no word yet on who will replace Amann, but we’re hearing there’s a search underway for a new lead writer-producer.”
