Cleveland Cavaliers Roster: Two-Guard Dion Waiters Will Be Sponge To LeBron

The Cleveland Cavaliers roster is now laden with a lot of talent, headlined by superstar LeBron James, and rising stars Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving.  However, one forgotten player in this roster, and who also has potential is Dion Waiters, who is coming off a season in which he averaged more than 15 points and 2 rebounds per game.

During the first few days of the Cavs’ training camp, James has already noticed Waiters’ talent, and it should help the team make a return trip to the finals or even win the championship.  “I believe Dion can do some great things, as well”, says James.

“His ability to shoot the ball, handle the ball, his strength, his athleticism.” As a potential starting shooting guard for the Cavs, or even a sixth man, Waiters will have big and tough shoes to fill as James’ replacement of Dwyane Wade.

And while he won’t reach that superstar level this early, everyone’s eyes will certainly focus on him in the Cavs’ roster.

Lebron has already made that clear to Waiters.

“I told him on every team there’s a guy that they want to kind of place the blame on and it would be Dion on our team.

I told him you can’t get involved in that or what people say about you.

It’s not what people think of you, it’s about what you think of yourself.

The only way to re-write the notion of, ‘Can Dion fit in this?’ is to play the right way and to dominate his opposition every single night.

That’s all he should worry about.”  Meanwhile, it looks like Waiters is already taking up the challenge by the veteran and is getting ready to learn anything he can from the former MVP.  “We’re just working together,” Waiters said.

“Just building that chemistry.

At the end of the day, I want him to take me under his wing.

He’s been here.

He’s won championships.

He’s a proven player, the best player in the world and why not learn from a guy like that? I think I benefit from it.

I’m like a sponge out there soaking everything up.”  Will Cleveland win an NBA title during its first season together? The answer not only lies on its Big Three, but also its supporting cast.

Waiters is one of them.
