2NE1 leader CL will take the honors of throwing the first pitch during the upcoming baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Texas Rangers, reports Koreaboo .
The Dodgers’ official Facebook page announced that on June 17, the team will be holding a Korea Night event in cooperation with the Korea Tourism Organization.
In line with the theme, the Dodgers will be squaring off against South Korean outfielder Shin Soo Choo’s Texas Rangers.
Event organizers also invited CL to perform the ceremonial first pitch of that night’s match.
There will also be a mini concert from the Korean band YB at 6PM.
Similarly, two days prior, the LA Dodgers will square off with the Texas Rangers in Arlington, Texas for that team’s Korean Heritage Night in their home stadium.
South Korean singer Yangpa is scheduled to sing the South Korean and American national anthems prior to the start of the game.
The special appearance of CL in an American sporting event seems to be the latest in a series of moves meant to start promoting the idol as a solo artist stateside.
CL will be spending the summer appearing in three performances in the Mad Decent Block Party : On August 8 in Brooklyn, New York; on September 11 in Berkley, California; and September 19 in Los Angeles, California.
She will be performing alongside artists such as Diplo, T-Pain and Skrillex, the last of which has been a longtime collaborator of the 2NE1 leader and is said to be guiding her solo album and debut in the United States.
Skrillex had said that he and CL will be coming out with a rap song called “Dr.
Pepper” in June along with Riff Raff and OG Maco.
CL was also supposed to be participating in the 2015 Austin City Limits Music Festival based on a leaked lineup of performers, but the finalized list did not include the Korean idol.
