The new Deftones album is on its way after vocalist Chino Moreno revealed that he is excited for fans to hear their upcoming release.
In a report by NME , Moreno revealed the inspiration for their upcoming release.
After confirming that the LP would sound “out of the box,” he further revealed that The Smiths vocalist Morrissey gave him inspiration with the vocal tracks that are out of this world.
“I’ve been on this crazy Morrissey kick recently – totally obsessing over his solo records – so I brought a lot of that to the table,” Moreno said.
“On those early solo records, he uses this awesome, Elvis-y delay on his vocal that I’ve been ripping off a ton.
He’s always been a favourite lyricist of mine – the beautiful poetic melancholy of it all.” Meanwhile, a Blabbermouth report claimed the the new Deftones album should be expected to hit shelves on Sept.
25 after the progress of the record has been confirmed to be done.
“The record, as far as music, has been all recorded, and I am currently working on the vocals,” Moreno said.
“So I’ve been recording from my home studio here in Oregon.
Slowly but surely, [we’re] getting it done, man.
It’s coming out really good.
It’s just another Deftones record.
And I feel like it’s us reaching a little bit, getting more into the song structures and trying to challenge ourselves a little bit, you know what I mean? It’s sounding good.
I think it’s gonna be a great record.”
