Daeji Daeji: Go-To Restaurant in Flushing, New York for Authentic, Unique Korean Foods and Friendly Service

Daeji Daeji: Go-To Restaurant in Flushing

I have to start off by saying that I am not Korean, but have been exposed to various kinds of Korean restaurants. Daeji Daeji was definitely one of my favorites not only because of its traditional Korean food, but also because of the kind, friendly service. After deciding to go there, I had to ask my Korean friend what “Daeji” means. It’s no surprise that it means pork in Korean, especially because their specialty is samgyeopsal, which means pork belly. After being seated and ordering our food, plenty of sides were delivered to our table; so many that we could barely fit our plates.     Then they brought out the raw meat, samgyeopsal, their specialty, and cooked it right in front of us. What made the pork belly so unique is the different ways they had marinated the meat. Some were marinated in curry, soybean, and, my personal favorite, wine. It gave a nice ting to the meat that I had never tasted before and made it extra juicy. Something you have to keep in mind while you eat it, while it is pretty flavorful, I had to be a little careful while eating it in the wrap since

In-depth Look At The ‘Rebel: Thief Who Stole The People’, Is It Worth The Watch?

In-depth Look At The 'Rebel: Thief Who Stole The People'

“Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People” is the newest TV series of MBC, starring Yoon Kyun Sang, Honey Lee, Kim Ji Suk and Chae Soo Bin. Hong Gil Dong’s life is the main focus of the drama. He is a famous literary figure in Korean history, much like with England’s Robin Hood. Hong Gil Dong is said to have stolen from the Korean nobles, and gave the stolen goods and riches to the poor people. It is one of the well-loved stories in Korea, which have amassed various adaptations throughout the years, both in drama and in films. According to Asian Wiki , the MBC’s version of Hong Gil Dong puts him as a second child of a poor family who works for a nobleman who has connections to the palace. The costumes that were used are simple and very basic. Even the nobles who should have worn robes with brighter colors just wore simple ones. With this, the drama instantly gets a negative blow. However, the problem with the costumes is put to the sidelines, thanks to the beautiful cinematography that the drama had. Every shot of the drama will surely be appreciated by any viewer, thanks to the

SHINee’s Key

SHINee’s Key and Red Velvet’s Irene both starred in SBS “Paik Jong Won’s Three Great Emperors”. In the show, they were challenged to try and cook several dishes from their hometown, Daegu. According to Korea Boo , Key and Irene had to taste are considered as delicacies and not everyone can bear to taste their slightly weird, unfamiliar flavor. On the show that was aired on January 11, Key and Irene must complete a challenge to try Daegu’s delicacies such as codfish soup, pufferfish bulgogi, udon and bulgogi, jjamppong and deep-fried chicken glizzard. At first, both Key and Irene looked so excited when the dishes started coming out. Irene claimed that she has tried them several times and she even admitted that she liked it although the dishes are not pretty common to a lot of Koreans. [Album Review] Red Velvet ‘Rookie’

[Album Review] Red Velvet ‘Rookie’

This is Red Velvet fourth mini album. I kind of have expectations but since it’s just a mini, I lowered it. “Rookie” is Red Velvet’s title track for this comeback. It started off nice with the beat and Irene and Joy’s cheerleading talk-sing but the chorus is a bit off for me. Maybe it’s the talk-sing style of singing but it would have been better with just singing. Also, the “Lookie Lookie” plus it needs more Wendy. “Little Little” is a really nice slow RnB track. It is the total opposite of “Rookie” and would be categorized as the ‘Velvet’ side of Red Velvet. Also, they made Irene sing in this song. I also love Wendy’s voice in this song. “Happily Ever After” is your Red Velvet’s usual ‘Red’ song. This could have been easily the title track. The catchy beats and the repetitive chorus will just stick to your mind. “Talk To Me” is like a mixture of both ‘Red’ and ‘Velvet’. The beats and melody is quirky and sometimes all over the place but the song is also kind of a slow RnB so it’s really nice. Maybe Red Velvet should try and release a title track like

[Album Review] Miss A’s Suzy Solo Album ‘Yes? No?’

[Album Review] Miss A's Suzy Solo Album 'Yes? No?'

Another female solo singer from JYP Entertainment has been born. Miss A’s most famous member, Suzy, has released her solo album. The album started off really good with her pre-release track “Pretend.” “Pretend” or “Pretending To Be Happy” is such a chill song, as it reminded me so such of a song in “Dream High 1” titled “Maybe,” which was originally sang by former Wonder Girls’ Sunye but Suzy also sang it in the end. Suzy’s title track “Yes No Maybe” is a mellow dance track. It really gives me Miss A feeling, especially when the beat picks up at the chorus. The song has showcased Suzy’s dreamy vocals. It has also showed off Suzy’s ability to hit the high notes. Meanwhile, “Sick And Tired” is giving an indie feel to the listeners. It is a slow RnB track which perfectly fits with Suzy’s whispery vocals. It is also a bit sexy with its beat and melody. The featured artist/rapper, Reddy, is kind of not needed. “Les Preferences” is another track that gives off an indie vibe. These types of chill songs really suits Suzy’s voice. Suzy does not need high belting songs or a really upbeat dance track to

[Album Review] April ‘Prelude’

[Album Review] April ‘Prelude’

April, the only girl group that DSP Media, is handling right now, seems to be taking a different route – different but very well thought route. I was not really interested in them and never listen to their previous songs but this comeback made me change that. “April Story,” their title track is the first song in the album. This song is definitely different from their old releases as it has a more mature and innocent feel to it. It also has a mysterious and dreamy feel to it, and is one of my favorite January releases. The next song, “As You Are Now,” is also a great song. This could have been another title track and they would still get the attention they have now. It has a Gfriend feel to it but more innocent. The synth and superb instrumentals really give a different energy to the song “Stop, Time” is more in the innocent and dreamy side than the energetic and hyped up one. It has the same feel to “April Story” but it also has a different thing in it. The members’ voices are really good in this song.  “WOW” is their usual cutesy and innocent song.
