Black Friday Deals 2015: Employees Are Holiday Shopping at Work Despite Higher Risks

Black Friday Deals 2015:  Half of employees are using time at work to shop online. 42 percent are holiday shopping on their smartphones or tablets, up from 27 percent last year. Survey results indicate a four percent increase in employers that have fired an employee for holiday shopping on the Internet while at work this year compared to last year. “In a world where the lines between the professional and personal are becoming more and more blurred every day, it’s not surprising that more employees are bringing personal activities to the workplace,” said Rosemary Haefner, chief human resources officer at CareerBuilder. “Employees should follow the rules, but employers should be careful not to micromanage. The issue should be more about performance than about what employees are doing with their time.” As mobile technology continues to have a growing presence in the workplace, more workers are using their gadgets to shop. Forty-two percent of employees use their personal smart phones or tablets to shop, a strong increase from last year (27 percent).  Following last year’s record low rate in the post-recession era, employees are once again boosting their online shopping game, hunting for deals and checking out their carts from their

Black Friday Deals 2015:   Online shoppers are 79 percent more likely to choose a product focused more on pleasure than function, even if the more pleasurable option is more expensive, when video is used to sell the options according to a new study from the University of Miami School of Business Administration. “It is clear from our study that online retailers, particularly those selling a product that beats the competition less on function and more on attributes about pleasure and enjoyment, can substantially increase their sales and profits by systematically incorporating more dynamic presentation formats like video to convey their product and service offerings,” said Claudia Townsend, assistant professor of marketing at the University of Miami School of Business Administration, who conducted the study with Ram Krishan, also from University of Miami, along with professors from Babson College.  “Whatever kind of business you are in, there is no question that investing in richer media for your website is an investment that will pay off.”  For instance, a person shopping online for a hotel room showcased with video instead of photos and text is more likely to choose the more expensive room with the marble bathroom and sunken bathtub than the

Cancer Symptoms Hit Hard With Breakthrough Strategy for Aggressive Cancer

Cancer Symptoms Hit Hard With Breakthrough Strategy for Aggressive Cancer

Cancer Treatment: Bremachlorin (PDT) leads a new combination approach blends immunotherapy with Bremachlorin-photodynamic therapy for advanced cancer.   A laboratory study conducted at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) in the Netherlands found that immunotherapy can be efficiently combined with photodynamic therapy (PDT) to eradicate established tumors. The approach results in strong local tumor destruction and a robust systemic immune response against the disease.  “This study is the first step,” states Professor Ferry Ossendorp, the study’s principal investigator. “We are now preparing further preclinical studies with a goal toward achieving clinical acceptance in Western Europe.” Dr. Ossendorp spearheaded the study together with doctoral candidate Jan Willem Kleinovink of LUMC’s Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion, in close collaboration with Dr. Clemens Lowik, now based at Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam. The researchers focused on a combination of two established therapies, PDT and immunotherapy, in order to eradicate aggressive tumors. PDT entails the use of a special agent, or photosensitizer, along with oxygen and light, to trigger reactions that selectively destroy tumors and render tumors more vulnerable to the immune system. Immunotherapy actually includes a number of strategies aimed at further exploiting various parts and mechanisms of the immune system. “This combination

The Dalai Lama Discourages Everyone To Pray For Paris? Terror Attacks Mastermind Killed?

The Dalai Lama has reportedly asked people to stop the Pray for Paris movement as he condemned the terror attacks in the City of Lights last week. In an interview with Deutsche Welle , the religious leader reiterated that while prayers do work, it was still up to the citizens of the world to ensure that peace will continue to reign. He even pointed out that people should not let God and the government be solely responsible in taking care of the problem the world faces. “We cannot solve this problem only through prayers,” he explained to the source above. “I am a Buddhist and I believe in praying. But humans have created this problem, and now we are asking God to solve it. It is illogical. God would say, solve it yourself because you created it in the first place.” In other to counter the problems of conflict in the world today, the spiritual leader said unity was the key. “We need a systematic approach to foster humanistic values, of oneness and harmony,” he stressed. “If we start doing it now, there is hope that this century will be different from the previous one. New Vaccine News: Injectable Anti-Cholesterol Drug Being Developed; Pneumonia Vaccine Pushed

News of a new vaccine to address high cholesterol levels may soon become another breakthrough for the medical scientific community. Though still in the early stages, the injectable vaccine being developed by researchers at the University of New Mexico and the National Institute of Health to prevent cholesterol build-up are showing great promise among mice and monkeys, according to Time . Based on a report published in the journal Vaccine, the vaccine is designed to attack a protein called PCSK9, which manager cholesterol levels in the blood.
