Ailee recently revealed what it’s like to live without a lover through her newest music video “Reminiscing”. The singer also talked about her previous relationship and how hard it is to keep being friend with someone who she used to date with. On SBS Power Fm’s “Choi Hwa Jung’s Power Time” that was broadcasted on February 22, Eddy Kim, Soran’s Go Young Bae, and special guest star Ailee shared their dating experiences that they have never told anyone before. During the broadcast, Ailee expressed many times that maintaining a good relationship with an ex is not impossible. “I’ve stayed good friends with the person I broke up with, I don’t think we really loved each other, but I didn’t mind at all to see him as a friend,” said the 27-year-old singer as cited by Soompi . DJ Choi Hwa admired Ailee for being able to do that since not everyone is eager to befriend an ex. Eddy Kim also shared his break-up story when he had to leave his girlfriend in The United States to join military enlistment. Meanwhile, Go Young Bae has had a bitterer break-up story since he was dumped through a letter by his ex. In
This is Red Velvet fourth mini album. I kind of have expectations but since it’s just a mini, I lowered it. “Rookie” is Red Velvet’s title track for this comeback. It started off nice with the beat and Irene and Joy’s cheerleading talk-sing but the chorus is a bit off for me. Maybe it’s the talk-sing style of singing but it would have been better with just singing. Also, the “Lookie Lookie” plus it needs more Wendy. “Little Little” is a really nice slow RnB track. It is the total opposite of “Rookie” and would be categorized as the ‘Velvet’ side of Red Velvet. Also, they made Irene sing in this song. I also love Wendy’s voice in this song. “Happily Ever After” is your Red Velvet’s usual ‘Red’ song. This could have been easily the title track. The catchy beats and the repetitive chorus will just stick to your mind. “Talk To Me” is like a mixture of both ‘Red’ and ‘Velvet’. The beats and melody is quirky and sometimes all over the place but the song is also kind of a slow RnB so it’s really nice. Maybe Red Velvet should try and release a title track like
Another female solo singer from JYP Entertainment has been born. Miss A’s most famous member, Suzy, has released her solo album. The album started off really good with her pre-release track “Pretend.” “Pretend” or “Pretending To Be Happy” is such a chill song, as it reminded me so such of a song in “Dream High 1” titled “Maybe,” which was originally sang by former Wonder Girls’ Sunye but Suzy also sang it in the end. Suzy’s title track “Yes No Maybe” is a mellow dance track. It really gives me Miss A feeling, especially when the beat picks up at the chorus. The song has showcased Suzy’s dreamy vocals. It has also showed off Suzy’s ability to hit the high notes. Meanwhile, “Sick And Tired” is giving an indie feel to the listeners. It is a slow RnB track which perfectly fits with Suzy’s whispery vocals. It is also a bit sexy with its beat and melody. The featured artist/rapper, Reddy, is kind of not needed. “Les Preferences” is another track that gives off an indie vibe. These types of chill songs really suits Suzy’s voice. Suzy does not need high belting songs or a really upbeat dance track to
April, the only girl group that DSP Media, is handling right now, seems to be taking a different route – different but very well thought route. I was not really interested in them and never listen to their previous songs but this comeback made me change that. “April Story,” their title track is the first song in the album. This song is definitely different from their old releases as it has a more mature and innocent feel to it. It also has a mysterious and dreamy feel to it, and is one of my favorite January releases. The next song, “As You Are Now,” is also a great song. This could have been another title track and they would still get the attention they have now. It has a Gfriend feel to it but more innocent. The synth and superb instrumentals really give a different energy to the song “Stop, Time” is more in the innocent and dreamy side than the energetic and hyped up one. It has the same feel to “April Story” but it also has a different thing in it. The members’ voices are really good in this song. “WOW” is their usual cutesy and innocent song.
Girl’s Generation’s youngest member Seo Joohyun, or many people and fans know as Seohyun, has finally released her first ever solo album. Her album “Don’t Say No” has many aspects that I did not expect. First was her title track, “Don’t Say No.” This song was not one of the things I would think Seohyun would go for. This song is more like Ariana-Grande-meets-Kpop type of song, and not in a bad way. Seohyun totally killed this style as she is as classy as ever. The second track “Hello” is totally different form her title track “Don’t Say No.” This song has a guy featuring in it and it is more mellow and slower. It is another good song from the album. “Magic” is definitely a sultry song. It is a really good song as Seohyun showed off her sexy side through it. The beat is really good and the chorus is very addictive. As Seohyun is enticing the listeners with her voice and repeating the title “Magic” in the chorus. Seohyun has also showed a different vocal talent with this song. “Lonely Love” is a café type of song. With Seohyun’s simple but very clear voice, the percussion and
Who would have thought that F(x)’s main vocalist Luna, EXID’s girl crush Hani, and Mamamoo’s leader Solar will be a great combination for a girl group? The three totally killed their song “Honey Bee” in the way they know how to. These three sang the very lively and upbeat “Honey Bee.” According to Allkpop , “Honey Bee” is a song produced by Mystic Entertainment Keun Tae Park that has a very dominant bass and saxophone instruments. The song also gives off a 80s soul feel to it. As for the song, f(x) Luna definitely showed off her chops, same with Mamamoo’s Solar. However, EXID’s Hani did not really get to showcase her honey-like and deep vocals as it might not fit the song. Luna and Solar did not compete for the high notes as they have an equivalent time to show off their superb vocals. The chorus of the song is really catchy and with all the ad libs of Luna and Solar, it made the song better. It was such a pity that Hani did not sing in her true register. Many fans think it would have helped the song as Luna and Solar have both high voices. But
The highest rated tvN drama “Goblin” did not only dominate the television views but also the music charts in Korea. Almost its entire original soundtrack entered every Korean music charts, it is specifically seen in Melon. The whole album is really good and it deserves all the praise and attention it’s getting. Dramafever even listed the top 13. The first song by EXO’s Chanyeol and Punch “Stay With Me” is the perfect opening song for the album. it gives off a mysterious vibe that was played whenever the “Goblin” is being showed in the drama. Punch’s voice totally fits the song and Chanyeol’s deep voice added some chills to the listeners. “My Eyes” is one of the happy songs in the album. It is played during the light-hearted parts of the drama. “Hush” is the third released OST and it is a mellow, acoustic song, played during the sad but a bit romantic parts of the drama. It is in full English. Crush’s “Beautiful” is another chart topping song in the album. It is perfectly played during the sweet and romantic parts of the drama. It has really good instrumentals but Crush’s voice totally made the song so much better.
CLC has totally revamped their style with this new album. I am not sure if it is for the better or worse because they totally sound like 4 Minute with their title track. Cube should get their minds together and find other sounds or style for CLC. “Liar” should have been their title track. It has a different sound but it still has that faint CLC sound. This song is so different from their title track and other girl groups’ song. It’s such a waste. It is slow and can have a dark music video. Their title track “Hobgoblin” is also a great song but this has 4 Minute all over it. Also, the rapper’s voice sounds so much like Hyuna, in a bad way. However, I really like Seunghee’s part in this song. Her part totally saved it. Another track that is very much like CLC’s debut style is the third song, “Mistake”. This also could have been their title track but Cube thought otherwise. It is another slow song but is not boring. “Meow Meow” is another great track from the album. The beat is really modern and the arrangement is not messy at all. I love how
Dreamcatcher is one the the newly debuted girl groups this year. For their debut song. they have already set their style apart from others. The intro of Dreamcatcher’s album will definitely catch everybody’s attention because it is not a usual sound that you will hear in girl group’s albums. Also, “Welcome To Dream” is the perfect intro for their title track “Chase ME” as it has the same electric guitar sound and the rock feel to it. “Chase Me” is definitely one of the most different debut tracks from a girl group. It is unlike any other debut in Kpop. It has more of a Jpop feel to it. More like an anime opening song. The rock pop and the electric guitar is so good that fans totally love the uniqueness it gives from Kpop. Meanwhile, the next song, “Emotion”, is a complete opposite of “Chase Me”. It has a very mellow sound it is bordering to ballad but more on the RnB side. The beat is also catchy. The girls performed this on their showcase and it definitely showed off their vocals. The last song was “Chase Me” instrumental and it is still a must listen because the instruments
This album is Niel’s second solo album he definitely matured in this one. From te title track to the other songs in the album, everything sounded flawless. “On My Way” is the intro song of the album. The beat is nice and Niel’s voice is nice too. The second song is his title track “Love Affair.” “Love Affair” is a really good song as it showed off Niel’s vocals and it is different from most of Teen Top tracks. Meanwhile, “Heart Monster” Is an unexpected acoustic song. It is nice to hear Niel sing a song with just acoustic guitar for background. His voice is so raw and I love the crispiness in it. I can feel the sadness of his voice in this song. “Fever” is another great track from the album. From the piano in the beginning to the chorus of the song until the bridge and last part, everything was really good. The song is nicely arranged. It is the type of song that will be stuck in your head and you’ll hum without you owing it. “Signal” is the only ballad in the song it is not entirely a ballad as it still has RnB influences
