Yahoo! Korea and actor Jang Geun Suk will be holding a ‘World Prine Jang Geun Suk Crazy Mission Diary’ Event. Yahoo! users from Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong will be able to submit their entries through each country’s Yahoo page until August 6, which is the deadline. From all the entries, Jang Geun Suk will choose the most fun and interesting entries himself. Jang Geun Suk will be filmed while choosing the entries as well. The winning entries will receive a CD signed by himself, a poster as well as other surprises. Jang Geun Suk has won the ‘triple crown’ in Taiwan on their Yahoo! Site. He will also be starting his tour in Shanghai in August.
Girls’ Generation ‘s guidebook about Korea has been spreading in Yeosu as well at the London Olympics. Starting on July 23, these guidebooks on Korea which feature Girls’ Generation has been spreading throughout the Yeosu Expo Center. This guidebook has been targeted toward international people and has been made into an english version. This guidebook talks about Korea’s culture, language, food and other categories. Professor Suh Kyung Duk commented, “Currently, K-Pop has been spreading around the globe and I feel that we should spread our culture along with it.” He continued, “Having Girl’s Generation featured in the guidebook will help make it more familiar to international viewers and can also be used as a poster.” Next week, these guidebooks will be spread during the London Olympics.
Actor Jang Geun Suk has been maintaining his position as ‘Asia’s prince’. On July 19, Jang Geun Suk ranked number 1 on Taiwan Yahoo’s portal site’s Yahoo Top 10 Korea’s Best Male Celebrity. Jang Geun Suk is currently gaining much attention with his drama ” Love Rain ” that is airing in Taiwan on GTV. He has not only ranked number one on the Taiwan charts, but he has also ranked number one in Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and other parts of Asia for the 2010 Yahoo Buzz Awards Top Star category, National Top Star category and the Taiwan Korea’s Single Award, making him a ‘triple crown’. He has also won in 2011 on Japan’s google search page as well as many other parts of Asia, truly making him ‘Asia’s prince’. Jang Geun Suk has recently finished his Japan tour, ‘THE CRI SHOW 2’ in Seoul and Yokohama, Japan. He will continue his tour in August in Shanghai and Taipei in September.
The news of Leessang sending BoA congratulatory flowers grabbed the attention of fans. On July 23, BoA uploaded a photo on her Twitter saying “Flowers arrived in the middle of the comeback show! Thanks to the brothers who can’t be humble.” The flowers seen in the photo was sent by Leessang, who congratulated BoA’s comeback stage. The wording ‘Congratulations for your first stage! LeeSsang who can’t be humble. The Answer to Korea is Kwon BoA,” is catching much attention. The Korean Embassy’s Cultural Center in Washington, D.C will host “Hallyu Camp 2012” next month. This is an opportunity to promote Korean culture and its strengths, as well as allow for participants to experience Korean culture first hand and learn more about why it is becoming increasingly popular all around the world. This camp will include education on Korean societal values, K-Pop dance and song workshops, introductions to Korean etiquette, Kimchi making classes and opportunities to experience Korean pop culture first hand in the United States. Anyone above the age of 13 is allowed to attend and the participation fee for this 1-week cultural immersion/education camp is $230 USD. The camp starts August 6 at 9:30am and will be held until August 10 at 3:30pm.
