Bristol Palin’s wedding has been cancelled.
Sarah Palin’s 24-year-old daughter was supposed to tie the know with her fiance Dakota Meyer this weekend.
Sarah Palin announced the news on her Facebook page on Monday.
“Bristol and Dakota couldn’t be more thankful for the love and support of family and friends over the past months while preparing for their wedding,” Palin posted.
“They have informed loved ones that unfortunately the announced celebration planned for May 23 will not be held.” The former Alaska governor added that the Palin and Meyer families are still going to get together for the weekend to “celebrate life, in general!” The wedding was supposed to take place in Kentucky.
Bristol herself posted her statement about recent gossip about her fiance, a former US Marine.”Regarding salacious headlines in recent days about ‘secret wives,’ Dakota and I discussed our past relationships prior to our engagement,” Bristol’s statement read.
“Dakota was legally divorced years ago, as any good reporter could and should have disclosed to readers.” “As usual, false stories and dramatically written headlines begging controversy should be disregarded, and we have faith that our privacy will be respected at this time by those with decency,” the 24-year-old concluded.
Last week, reports surfaced that Meyer had been married to a Cassandra Wain in May 2008, and that he had kept this from Bristol.
It is not yet clear whether the couple’s engagement has been ended, or whether the wedding has just been moved to a later date.
The mother and daughter posted a photo with the words “Trust in God’s timing.
It’s better to wait a while and have things fall into place than to rush and have things fall apart,” on their respective social media accounts.
Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer were engaged last March 2015.
