BIGBANG has been elected as a national ” Creative Icon ” by the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism! On August 2nd, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism declared that BIGBANG has been appointed as the ambassador of the country’s new national brand: ” Creative Korea .” As the creative ambassador, BIGBANG will be involved in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics (from August 5th to August 21st), as well as the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games Olympics.
” Creative Korea ” is the product of the ministry’s efforts to build up Korea’s national identity and will reestablish ” Dynamic Korea ” and ” Imagine Your Korea ” as the country’s motto. An informant from the ministry says, “Through BIGBANG ‘s activities with ‘ Creative Icon ,’ we believe that we will be able to promote ‘ Creative Korea ‘ on an international level. The group will play a significant role in promoting Korea’s image.”
