BIG BANG, BTS Fans At War Over 'No Signal' Concept In BTS Performance; Gaon Chart Apologizes

Despite winning bigt at the recentlty held 6 th  Gaon Chart K-pop Awards the other night, boy band BTS is currently under fire after fans allege that their performance at the show plagiarized its concept from another K-pop idol group Big Bang. As a result, two of the biggest fandoms in the Kpop industry is at war over whether Big Bang deserves an apology from the younger group or not. The issue stemmed from a live performance of BTS of their hits “Save Me” and “Blood Sweat and Tears” at the 6th Gaon Chart K-pop Awards where they were also named Artist of the Year for topping physical album sales for the last quarter of 2016. While the performance was electrifying in keeping with BTS’s style, fans of Big Bang noticed that it featured a key concept that is closely identified with Big Bang, reported Stars Post  .
BTS opened their performance with the use of no signal color bars which was similar to the way Big Bang’s T.O.P. opened his solo performance in Hong Kong for the 0 to 10 Finals. Big Bang fans, mostly coming from their V.I.P. immediately went on the attack upon seeing the concept and called for a public apology from BTS on social media. BTS’ legion of fans known as A.R.M.Y. quickly went to the defense of their idols, saying that the concept was not exclusive to Big Bang as they did not invent the color bar. Big Hit Entertaiment, for their part, clarified that they had nothing to do with the way the stage was set up for the event. “Our side did not prepare the production for BTS’ stage in general,” the label stated . “These complaints have nothing to do with us.” The hashtag #노_시그널_사과해주세요 which translated to #No_Signal_Please_apologise also trended on Twitter. Fanning the fires of the fan war is also a statement of YG Live Performance Producer who said “Hmmmmmm…. Our hard work” implying that he believes that their concept was copied by BTS.
