“Beauty and the Beast” star Emma Watson will reportedly replace Michael Fassbender’s girlfriend Alicia Vikander in the Tom Hanks starrer, “The Circle.” The “Harry Potter” actress, meanwhile, skipped Cannes Film Festival for a bit of a downtime in her hometown in London.
According to Deadline , “The Circle” is based on the novel written by Dave Eggers and Alicia Vikander was supposed to play a “young employee at a tech company called The Circle, who gets involved with a mysterious man.” “The Tom Hanks-Alicia Vikander-starrer The Circle – is in the process of being reconfigured as the star of that young actress soars after her performance as the beguiling robot in Ex Machina,” it said.
“The Swedish actress is in talks to star in two major new tentpoles: Assassin’s Creed, the Justin Kurzel-directed New Regency live-action adaptation of the Ubisoft video game; and the new Jason Bourne picture opposite Matt Damon with Paul Greengrass directing.” It would be a busy year for Emma Watson, who skipped the Cannes Film Festival, as she’s also started production for “The Beauty and the Beast” live action adaptation.
“Emma, 25, is said to be ‘going full steam ahead’ with her career, though she appears to be one of the only Hollywood starlets not to be gracing the French Riviera’s plush red carpets at the Cannes Film Festival this week,” said Daily Mail .
The “Harry Potter” actress Emma Watson talked to Telegraph about her fears of singing for the “Beauty and the Beast” live-action film.
“I sing, so that’s really unexpected.
I’ve never had to do that for a film role before, and I think people will be interested to see me do something very different like that,” she said.
“It gives me a different challenge, really.
That’s terrifying in and of itself!” In a previous interview with Refinery29 , “Beauty and the Beast” star Emma Watson talked about being more conscious about what roles she plays.
“I used to sort of go in to auditions and sort of say, well you can cast me if you like, maybe I could do a good job, [laughs].
And, now I am much more focused, I am much more of a go-getter.
I went away and I studied, took time away, and I realized that it was really what I wanted to do,” she said.
“So, I became very focused and driven about it in a way that I hadn’t quite been before.
I didn’t realize that I was able to get films made.
I didn’t realize that I would be able to tell stories that I really wanted to be told.
I just really got the bug again.”
