The trailer for the upcoming Avengers movie will debut at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards.

The cast of The Avengers will present Robert Downey Jr.

with the MTV Generation Award.

“Throughout his career, Robert Downey Jr.

has mesmerized audiences by capturing the humanity in larger-than-life characters like Charlie Chaplin, Sherlock Holmes and Tony Stark,” MTV President Stephen Friedman said in a statement.

“He’s a brilliant actor and a Hollywood icon, and we are proud to recognize his tremendous passion and talent with this year’s Generation Award.” MTV announced that the Iron Man actor will receive the MTV Generation Award from “Avengers: Age of Ultron” co-stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner.

Downey Jr.

will be honored alongside Comedic Genius recipient Kevin Hart and Trailblazer Award recipient Shailene Woodley.

The 2015 MTV Movie Awards will air live on April 12 from the Nokia Theater L.A.

The awards show will premiere a 90-second clip from Joss Whedon’s upcoming Avengers movie sequel which opens May 1.

The MTV Generation Award is the “Movie Awards” highest honor.

Past recipients include Mark Wahlberg, Jamie Foxx, Johnny Depp, Reese Witherspoon, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Sandra Bullock, Mike Myers, Tom Cruise and Jim Carrey.

Hosted by Amy Schumer, the awards show will also feature appearances by Miles Teller, Reese Witherspoon, Vin Diesel, Sofia Vergara and Jimmy Kimmel.
