With its release date coming near, ASAP Rocky has revealed more information about his new album.
In a report by Billboard , the 26-year-old rapper claimed that his new album wouldn’t be “the usual,” as he is expected to do something different from his usual music.
Comparing to his 2011 release “Long Live ASAP,” the Harlem-raised artist reiterated how he would incorporate everything he wanted on a record on his upcoming LP.
“Last time I was more concerned, subconsciously, with doing something mainstream,” Rocky said.
“Once I did that, I not only proved to the world but to myself that I could do anything that I wanted.” Entitled as “At Long Last ASAP,” his new album is said to have jumped from a raw talent to something growing into something big, where he believes would make a mark in the music industry.
“You got two types of rappers,” he said.
“You got the celebrity and the artist.
I’m famous, I’m popular — I’m just not a celebrity.
I’m an artist.
In my 60s, I don’t want to be just remembered as that kid from back in the day that had cool shit.” He also talked about the inspiration of the title of the record after claiming that he named it after God, as the record’s initial is spelled as “A.L.L.A.” “I’m taking ownership of the fact that I was named after the god MC himself,” ASAP Rocky revealed.
“I’m basically saying it’s the return of the god.” In line with all the buzz about its upcoming release date, ASAP Rocky promised the new album to be as personal as ever after he claimed to have “poured out everything” in the said release.
“I just poured it all out on this album,” says Rocky, nodding his head to the beat.
“All my emotions, my thoughts, my feelings.
I didn’t hold back one bit.”
