Anne Hathaway will be starring in a movie titled “Colossal,” a new movie that incorporates elements from “Godzilla.” The movie, which is being written and directed by Nacho Vigalondo (“Timecrimes”) is being described in The Hollywood Reporter as “Transformers” versus “Adaptation,” and “Godzilla” meets “Being John Malkovich.”
The “Les Miserables” star plays a woman named Gloria, who gets laid off from her job and gets dumped by her fiance.
This prompts her to move from New York city to relocate to her hometown.
But when she gets there, reports reach her that a giant lizard is terrorizing Tokyo, and Gloria slowly learns that she is somehow connected to these events through her mind.
To save the world from the rampaging lizard, Gloria has to discover why she, of all people, has an influence on what is happening in Japan.
“‘Colossal’ is my most ambitious script so far, and probably also the most personal one,” Vigalondo said.
“Having Anne and this terrific team around goes beyond my craziest expectations.” Voltage Pictures will be fully financing “Colossal” and they are reportedly excited about their collaboration with director Nacho Vigalondo.
“As huge fans of ‘Timecrimes,’ we are thrilled to be collaborating with a filmmaker as talented as Nacho,” Voltage CEO Nicolas Chartier said in a statement.”He has written an extraordinarily unique piece of material and we look forward to seeing Anne in such a challenging role.” In the meantime, Hathaway will next be seen in the new Nancy Meyers movie, “The Intern,” which airs in September.
Anne plays a founder of an online fashion site, where Robert De Niro will be working as an intern.
The actress will also be in the sequel to “Alice In Wonderland,” Disney’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” which will air in cinemas in 2016.
