Thank goodness for social media! The 2014 Hallyu Dream Festival is in full swing and attendees are uploading videos to various social media platforms, giving us all an up close glimpse at the action and allowing domestic and international fans alike to experience the event.
The popular festival and concert showcase is held at Gyeongju Civic Stadium and is designated by UNESCO World Heritage as a culturally significant event. Korea Tourism Organization stated on their website that the festival ” will present various opportunities for global Hallyu fans to fully indulge in the new cultural wave that is rapidly spreading outside Korea.” Like a sort of KCON in South Korea, attendees are able to celebrate Hallyu (the Korean Wave) and enjoy an idol concert at the festival’s end.
Blog site T umblr has been the source of many posts and reblogs of the event, providing fans online the chance to catch glimpses of their favorite idols in action. With so many attendees sharing point-of view pictures and videos from the crowd through social media, international K-pop fans have had the rare chance to see performances from their favorite K-Pop stars.
This content sharing experience also helps unite members of different fandoms across borders and time zones. The Hallyu Dream Festival ‘s concert this year features performances from an impressive array of idol groups and singers.
EXO-K, KARA, SISTAR, 4Minute, VIXX, BTOB, Block B, Ailee, SECRET, B.A.P, Crayon Pop, T-ara, Dalshabet, Topp Dogg, F.CUZ.
